Page & File Versioning
When changing the content of a page, you decide whether or not to create a new version of that page. Each version of a page is distinctive, that is, it can be examined and referred to separately from each other. The list of versions that have been created over time is called the history of a page and each entry is identified by its time stamp, the creation date when it came into existence. Browsing the history from past to present allows you to experience how a page has changed over the covered period of time.
The history of a page is displayed by clicking the History option of the page panel. The entries of a page's history can either be sorted from oldest to latest, or the other way around, by clicking the generation and time stamp table header, respectively.
If you want to recycle an old version of a page, click the Edit-symbol of that version. This causes a brand new version of the page to be created, consisting of the source of the selected former version. Note that, in doing so, neither the current version, nor the former version is destroyed. Instead, the new version is considered to be completely inpendent of any previous version and just happens to be identical to one of the previous releases. Of course you can change the new version of the old template in any way you want.
Files, too, feature versioning capabilities. As with pages, you have to decide whether to replace the current with a new upload, or to create a new version of the file instead. Subsequent uploads of the same file made by different users always creates new versions of that file.
